Bangzi is a Chinese percussion instrument. Bangzi popularized in the seventeenth century with the rise of clapper opera. Ancient patrolling or the old Yamen to collect and distribute people ring the sounder. Made of bamboo or hollowed out wood. Bangzi consists of two solid hardwood sticks of varying lengths and thicknesses. One of the four voices of the opera, named after the hardwood Bangzi Festival. Bangzi was selected into the second batch of China's state-level intangible cultural heritage list in 2008.
