The Accompaniment Style Of Samba

In the early 20th century, women in Bahia brought samba to Rio de Janeiro, then Brazil's capital. Since then, the samba has started to flow from the coast to the hinterland, from the slums to the upper classes and from the black and mulatto "Murata" to the whites. Meanwhile, percussion instruments such as drums, gongs and cymbals in slums in Rio de Janeiro gradually became accompaniment to samba.
