The Origin Of Maracas

Maracas is a rocking instrument. It originated in the rhythmic percussion instruments of the South American Indians.

Traditional maracas with a spherical dry gourd when the shell, which installed some dry hard seed grain or gravel. It uses the original slender neck as a handle. Shake the dug hit the gourd wall sound. There are also wooden, pottery, rattan and plastic and other shapes similar to maracas, which loaded beads, lead pills and so on.

When playing, usually each hand holding a maracas shaking. They are more common in playing occasions and parties.
